My current PhD research is concerned with the relationship between performance and photography. Specifically, I am examining Roland Barthes’ reflections on photography from Camera Lucida and their usefulness in theatre and performance contexts. Using my own performance practice I am exploring Barthes’ ideas as a set of tools for the composition and analysis of affectivity in contemporary performance.
